GILERA MUSEUM

Founded by Giuseppe Gilera the company produced its first motorcycle,
the VT 317, in 1909. Racing success came quickly, firstly with single cylinder
machines and later with the four-cylinder design that dominated 500cc Grand
Prix racing in the early 1950’s. Having won multiple world championships
Gilera, along with most of the other Italian manufacturers, withdrew from
racing in 1957. Today the name is owned by Piaggio and used on a range of scooters. |

The museum is at viale Rinaldo Piaggio 7, Pontedera. It can be found on the main rail and road route from Pisa to Florence.
